Air Commodore Raymond asks Biggles to find a missing yacht called the 'Cordelia'. This yacht is owned by Otto Brandt, an international financier and multi-millionaire. Enquiries reveal that the yacht left the UK fully laden with some unusual provisions and Brandt went with it, leaving a large number of creditors behind. After some dangerous enquiries in Tangier, the yacht is traced to an island in the West Indies called 'Isla Santina'. A visit to this supposedly deserted island results in an unexpected attack and Biggles and Ginger stay to investigate. Suspicions are confirmed that there is much more to the disappearance of Brandt than initially meets the eye. He is organising, with his brother, a revolution in Cuba and this island is to be the base where he is equipping a small army. The picture on the dust cover of the book shows Biggles and Ginger viewing the yacht from their hidden position on the island. Helped and hindered by a Cuban called Francisco Tristano who is pursuing a vendetta against Brandt, Biggles and his friends are able to foil the plot. The Cuban Government send a gun ship to sort out the would-be rebels. As to what happens to Brandt, it is not what is expected!
